Beginning. by Grodansnagel Beginning. by Grodansnagel
This was a massive undertaking and took so many hours, but I'm happy with it.
I suggest downloading it, since I can't make the fullsize view any bigger, and the file is huge. :)

The words I chose for Anastasia and Dimitri's story are:
Rescue.
Quarrel.
Tolerance.
Falling.
Awakening.
Truth.
Love.
Beginning.

i do have to say i do like this, because one of my favorite songs from the movie and the cd is back to the beginning. I love how this portrays anastasia's re-experienceing dimitri, who basically helped anastasia and her grandma escape in the beginning of the movie.

The film is based on the true story of the last royal family of Russia. The entire family was murdered by its own people and they Believe Anastasia and Her grandmother escaped. The entire family taken away and put in a nice large mansion as they were lied to. Saying this mansion was protection. The guards woke them up, said they needed to go to the garden. And they were shot to death. But like I said they believe the child Anastasia and her grandmother escaped.

Because as long as the Tsar and his family still lived, they were a threat to the Bolsheviks. Tsar Nicholas and his family were very popular, even after he was deposed. So, to keep sympathy for the Russian monarchy from developing too much, they were executed.

That's history. What you gotta understand is the context. Around the turn of the century, Russia's economy was in the toilet; it was beyond the toilet, Russia was in the septic tank. Not only that, but the Tsar at that time, Alexander III, was bitter about the assassination of his father, and he increased repression of the serfs back to what it was for a long time, and things didn't get any better when Nicholas II took the throne. Nicholas was a pretty lousy Tsar, being an insecure man who believed in the strength of autocracy, and he got Russia involved in land disputes with the Austria-Hungarian and German alliance over the Balkans, and with Great Britain over Central Asia. He also tried to earn favor with the Russian people by starting a war with Japan purely to satisfy a petty grudge he held against the country, which he then proceeded to lose.

Meanwhile, growing resentment over the Tsars and their treatment of the Russian people lead the resistance against the Tsar to organize into political parties. They organized strikes all across St. Petersburg, leaving the city without power or newspapers. In January 9th, 1905, a peaceful protest at the Winter Palace was massacred, which forever marred Nicholas in the eyes of the public. This is also when the Potemkin mutiny occurred. In the face of a possible revolution, Tsar Nicholas and the government signed the October Manifesto, giving a democratic voice to Russians and cancelling debts the serfs owed. They then proceeded to wipe out the striking workers, silence that democratic voice, and tax the serfs even MORE.

Now let's fast-forward a bit: The parliament set up by the government turns out to be a farce, as it's votes were continually rigged in favor of what Nicholas wanted. One political party, the Social Democrats, was splitting in two due to disagreement between it's leaders. It became the Bolsheviks, run by Vladimir Ulyanov, aka Lenin, and the Mensheviks, run by his co-editor, Martov. The Bolsheviks were the more dominant faction, but I digress. Now we're at 1914: World War One has started. Russia is doing very badly; they're a country so poor they can't afford bullets, and their generals are incompetent. Not helped by the fact that in 1915, Nicholas took personal command over the war effort, so there was no one to blame but him for Russia's defeats. The army would no longer support the Tsar, the parliament refused to disband, and now not even the strikers were afraid. Nicholas had no choice but to step down, ending Tsarist rule in Russia forever.

Now it's 1917; Lenin's Red Bolsheviks are planning their eventual takeover of Russia. They begin a second revolution in October, and soon seized total control over the country. They had to fight a civil war against the resistant Whites, who were just about anyone who didn't like the Bolsheviks' plans for the country. They never really stood a chance, as the Reds just became more and more brutal to their enemies and tightened their grip on Russia, and the Whites were barely organized. Even assistance from the Allied Powers did nothing to stop the Reds from steamrolling the Whites and gaining full power in 1921.

Somewhere in all this, about 18 months after Rasputin was assassinated by a Russian prince who had friends in the British SIS, that the Bolsheviks executed Tsar Nicholas, along with his wife and all their children. Although the Western world, which still had some people sympathetic to Nicholas, it really wasn't much more than just tying up loose ends for the Reds, just one more relic of the old Russia to be swept away; that this would also prevent any more undermining of their establishing a new regime.

And that's the true story of what happened to Anastasia.
